Tom boys Beer

Objective

Create a beverage pack consisting of four craft beers under the same company name and logo. The beers had to under a similar theme but be four different flavors and the labels had to reflect that. Also there had to display packaging that could be used to sell or promote the beverages.

Solution

I created a four pack craft beer system under the main company name of ‘Lucky Losers’. It found it was a fun oxymoron that usually one could associate with a bar or a beer company name. The beer pack itself was created with the name ’Tomboys’. The idea came to me because there are beers mainly created for mainly men and women based on ingredients and how a company markets the beer. I grew up as a tom boy wanting to play sports instead of doing girly things. So, I decided to create the beer around four characters whose personalities would be reflected in the ingredients and type of beer. For all four I kept the style as like a pair of dirty jeans with each of the characters looking like a patch that was sewn on.

The Logo

Being a losers and being lucky are an oxymoron. Opposites attract, right? The idea of using the playground hand symbol for losers with a lucky clover tattoo was something both funny and ironic. Perfect for a beer company.

Neck Wrap

The wrap for the neck of the bottle had the logo placed on a band-aid to invoke the rough and tumble nature of a tomboy.

Each bottle features a handmade charm bracelet.

Each bottle and flavor had a different character designed like patches.

Slugger

Angela is not the type of girl who likes to play with dolls. She is rough and tumble. Not afraid to get down and dirty with the boys when it comes to comes to a bit of healthy competition. Angela is the girl who was born with a baseball bat in her hand and is not afraid to use it. So if you want to come up against her it will be at your own risk.

Spit Fire

There is a reason that she gets mad when people call her Margaret instead of Maggie. She says the name Margaret is meant for old ladies and she certainly is not an old lady! Maggie as a temper that anyone can fear. Her green eyes blaze with rage as her face becomes red that it makes her red hair seem on fire. She’s shrill, she’s loud and she is passionate. Like a flame that will not burn out. This spitfire has a lot to say and a lot to do.

Rebel

Shania goes against the grain. If her mom wants her to wear a nice dress she’ll put on a coat and tie. A pair of high heels? No thanks, flats or tennis shoes will do. She has a mind of her own. Shania wants to do things her way and the not the way that people think she should. This rebel fights with everything that she has against things that she cannot or will not stand. She is a rebel who fights with a cause and without cause.

Hoyden

Roxanne is not not the girl in the songs. She’s not some tragic figure who has do what she must to survive. Hell no! Our Roxanne is a fighter! Willing to stand up against the bullies, the haters and anyone who wants to have his or her ass kicked. She just that honest, she just wants to fight. It makes her father worried, her mother cry but Roxanne knows how to take care of herself. So come get some if you dare!
