Solution

One of the things that I have realized that younger generations have lost is certain life skills. My mother taught me how to sew and it is nice to know how to fix your own clothes. So I decided to put together a basic sewing kit. I wanted to play with fun patterns around each item and decided that since it was a travel kit meant for seven items, it would involve the continents.

The main logo was designed to give off the feeling of a patch sewn on jackets. I also wanted to convey that this was meant to be a sewing kit by showing the spool of thread and crossed needles such as a skull and crossbones.

The Main Logo

Travel Stamp

Each package has a smaller travel stamp that one can see on mail that tells where the mail was sent or came from. Thus I created these stamps for each continents based around a major city on the continent.

Patterns

In order to give a fun modern vibe for this sewing kit I created colorful patterns for each item in the kit. Each pattern is different in color and movement to tell each item apart from a glance.

Final Kit

The World-The Bag

Since this is a travel sew kit it needs a bag to keep everything in it right? This shows a full world map since it will contain all the elements of of the kit. Also show the combination of all the kit's elements in one place elements of all the items patterns are put together.

Africa-Needles

Since the needle is the most important item needed to sew and is represented by the second largest in the world, Africa since thread and needles are the two main components needed to sew.

Europe-pin box

Europe represents the needles and the box that holds them together. Since needles are separate objects just like the needles but come together to create something just like the many countries that make up Europe.

North America-Scissors

North America is the home of the United States one the sharpest nations in the world, thus the scissors is the item to be represented by this continent.

australia-Tape Measure

The tape measure stands out from all the other items because it is something that is not compact. Australia stands out from all the continents, floating alone just like the tape measure.

Antarctica-Ripper

The ripper is the item that most people do not understand its use for when first starting out learning how to sew. Thus it represented by Antarctica the most isolated continent and the misunderstood.

South America-Pin Cushion

The pin cushion holds the needles and goes hand in hand with the needles. The needles are represented by Africa which can fix along side South America thus making them a perfect pairing.

Asia is the largest continent and the package of thread is the largest item in the kit. The kit contains the basic colors needed for simple garment repairs.
